Michael and Racquela didn’t start their relationship like a love at first sight fairy tale. Instead, it was quite the opposite. Michael and Racquela met while working in a busy nightclub in Newcastle, Michael was as security guard and Racquela was a bar attendant. One night, Michael decided to approach Racquela and ask how her night is going and more formally introduce himself, Racquela obliviously brushed him off completely without even knowing. It took two years later for them to reconnect through Instagram, a few liked photos here and there and Michael courageously inboxed Racquela and organised a coffee date for the following day. Their first official morning coffee date at Peg’s Café in December 2015 went so well that night Racquela and Michael had dinner too. The rest was history…
Well before their actual engagement, Michael decided to give Racquela a valentines gift of shopping for an engagement ring. They both agreed they wanted something unique and with some shopping and helpful hints along the way from the jewellers, Whitakers made an amazing custom engagement ring. The beautiful white gold emerald cut diamond, set in 4 double claws, surrounded by a diamond halo on an upswept band bead set with round diamonds is absolutely breath taking! The ring is a modern spin on more traditional style of engagement ring. Racquela absolutely adores this one of a kind piece!
Michael had thought of absolutely everything for this proposal – including two possible proposal plans! Michael planned to propose the weekend of Racquela graduating from her university degree, the timing was perfect. Michael and Racquela planned a trip to Canberra to stay at the luxurious Jamala Wild Life Lodge to celebrate Racquela’s graduation. This is where Michael had initially planned to propose whilst having an encounter with white lions. To Racquela’s surprise, Michael decided to stay in Sydney the night before their trip in Canberra. It so happened to be 3.5 Years almost to the date Racquela and Michael first said they loved each and this occurred in Sydney after they had dinner at Sydney’s iconic revolving 360 Bar and Dining. Michael set up his secondary proposal by calling the restaurant to help plan his proposal and relive their first ‘i love you’ moment. The menu was pre-selected and the table was booked to be completely isolated from other customers that night. Just before dessert came out, when the restaurant was in full view of Sydney’s Harbour Bridge, Michael got to one knee and asked Racquela to marry him! In complete awe and shock, Racquela instantly said yes! Michael and Racquela celebrated a graduation and an engagement at Jamala Wild Life Lodge and had the best weekend to date! Racquela was taken by surprise by the ring, the proposal and of course by Michael.
